This Privacy Policy describes the way Chime Inc., a Delaware (USA) corporation doing business as Sendwave, and its affiliate Sendwave Canada Inc. (collectively, "Sendwave" or "us") obtains, uses, stores, manages and disposes of certain information that you, as a user of our services, provide to us. You have certain rights, described below, to know what information we collect, how we use it, and how you may obtain and correct it.

Sendwave first collects information about you and about the person to whom you are sending money (your "Beneficiary") from the data you supply on the Sendwave application (the "App"). When you provide information to Sendwave, through the App or otherwise, you are warranting to Sendwave that all of the information you provide to us about yourself and about your Beneficiary is accurate and complete. Sendwave is relying on your warranty when Sendwave provides the Service to you. The information you provide includes Personally Identifiable Information, which is defined as information that can be used, on its own or with other information, to identify you.

In addition to the information you provide, Sendwave may have, or may obtain from third parties, information about you or your Beneficiary, some of which may be Personally Identifiable Information. More information about these third parties appears below. Sendwave collects and uses this information to provide its services to you, and to help protect you, the Sendwave service, your Beneficiary and the general public from mistakes, fraud, money-laundering and other risk factors detrimental to service integrity.

Sendwave is a fully-owned subsidiary of the ZEPZ Group, which includes WorldRemit Corp. and WorldRemit (UK) Limited. Collection of Information

The initial information we collect from you is the information that you provide to us on the Sendwave App. This includes information about yourself, such as your full legal name, address, date of birth, telephone number, email address, your social security number, as well as other information and/or documentation that will allow us to verify your identity. You must also provide us with information about an authorized payment source, such as your debit card, and information about your Beneficiary, which may include sensitive personal information such as your Beneficiary's name, address, mobile phone number and/or bank account information. When you give Sendwave permission to access your contacts on your mobile phone we only use that information to auto-populate fields when you add a new recipient as a Beneficiary.  We do not upload your contacts to our server. Sendwave may also collect geolocation information from your mobile phone or other device from which you access the Sendwave App, including your IP (Internet Protocol) address, operating system, device identification information, and other information associated with your access to and use of the App. Sendwave may also collect information about the websites you have visited prior to accessing the Sendwave service. Sendwave may keep and store such information and associate it with your use, in order to help Sendwave identify you and facilitate your use of our service in the future.

Sendwave may verify and confirm all of the information that you provide to us (or that we otherwise collect from your accessing the Sendwave App) with third parties, including the financial institution that issued the payment card you propose to use, and the telecommunications company or financial institution through which your money is sent to your Beneficiary. Sendwave may also verify such information with identity verification services, electronic databases, social media companies and credit reporting agencies. Sendwave may share your information with the banks, telecommunications providers and other financial services firms who facilitate payment to your Beneficiary. From time to time, Sendwave may require you and/or your Beneficiary to provide us with additional information and/or documentation to confirm your identity, your eligibility to use the Sendwave service, and the identity of your Beneficiary.

When you access the Sendwave app, Sendwave may collect and store information regarding your use of the App and the service. This includes information about the frequency with which you access the App, the time you spend there, the way you move through the site, your transfer history, and details regarding the amount of money you transfer and your Beneficiaries.

If you contact us for any reason, whether by telephone, email, text or otherwise, Sendwave may record and store communications that you have with us.

Use of Information

Sendwave may maintain and use all of the information and documentation that you provide, as well as information that we derive from your use of the service, and the information that we obtain about you from third parties, in order to provide the Sendwave service to you, and to enable Sendwave to comply with laws and regulations, including those intended to prevent fraud, money laundering, and other abuses of the financial system. Sendwave may use your information to contact you as necessary to confirm or complete a transaction, and to allow our agents, partners and service providers to fulfill their obligations in providing the Sendwave service to you. Sendwave may also use your information to improve our service, to troubleshoot problems, to develop new products and services, and to create advertising, marketing and promotional campaigns. We will ask for your consent to send you marketing communications about products and services offered by Sendwave and WorldRemit. Sendwave will not sell, rent or otherwise disclose your information to third party marketers or others unaffiliated with Sendwave for the purpose of advertising, promoting or selling other services to you. However, where and to the extent allowed by law, Sendwave engages in cross-context behavioral advertising and may work with third parties to analyze the information that we gather from you when you visit us on-line, including our website, our Facebook page, and our Facebook advertisements, whether or not you use the Sendwave service. Sendwave may use the information we gather there, along with the information we obtain from your use of our service, which may include Personally Identifiable Information, to advertise and promote Sendwave services to you and to others. We may customize our marketing and promotional messages to you based on your use of our service, the information that you provide to us or which we otherwise obtain about you, and algorithms designed to help us anticipate your potential needs, based on your information and the information of others who use Sendwave services. Sendwave believes that such programs provide valuable information and benefits to our current and potential users. However, if you live in a jurisdiction where such use of your data for marketing and promotional purposes requires your permission, Sendwave will not use your data for these purposes unless you "opt in" to such uses.

Sharing your personal information 

Your personal information is very important to us. However there are circumstances where it is necessary for us to share your information for legitimate business purposes (including operating our App, and providing services to you), in accordance with applicable law and subject to applicable professional and regulatory requirements regarding confidentiality and professional secrecy. In addition, we may disclose your personal information to:

  • Our affiliates - we share your information within the ZEPZ group of companies (such as WorldRemit, Chime Inc. dba Sendwave, and Sendwave Canada Inc.)  All companies within the WorldRemit group of companies are subject to strict confidentiality and security obligations.
  • Service Providers and Third party processors which include trusted third parties with whom we do business or who provide services to us,this includes banks, pay-out partners or other financial institutions that process your transactions or KYC service providers. We may disclose data to provide our services, comply with legal requirements, enforce our policies, cooperate with judicial or regulatory authorities where required by applicable law, and protect our rights and property.
  • FaceBook - We may  share actions that you take on our website with Facebook such as your visits to our website and your interactions on our website.  For example, Sendwave provides data to Facebook's Ad Manager account and SDK programs, which provide us with information about the ways customers and other visitors access, view and use the Sendwave website and application.   • Google We use Google Analytics, which uses cookies and similar technologies to collect and analyze information about use of the Sites and report on activities and trends. This service may also collect information regarding the use of other websites, apps, and online services. You can learn about Google’s practices by going to google.com/policies/privacy/partners. To opt out of being tracked by Google Analytics across all websites visit tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
  • Fraud Prevention Agencies - Where we have reasonable suspicion of fraud, money laundering, counter terrorist financing or any other illegal activity we can, upon request or where legally obliged, share your personal information with crime prevention agencies and other third parties for the purpose of detecting, preventing, or reporting crime, or for actual or suspected breach of any applicable law or regulation. Please note, we reserve the right to suspend activity on your account or any transaction, refuse access to your account or cancel any transaction you may want to make, if we think there is a risk of illegal activity.


Opting Out of Marketing Communications


If you have a Sendwave account, you can opt out of receiving Sendwave marketing communications by modifying your email or SMS subscriptions by clicking on the unsubscribe link or following the opt-out message included in the communication. 

Alternatively, simply send an email to compliance@sendwave.com with “URGENT - UNSUBSCRIBE REQUEST” in the subject line and the email address that you wish to be removed within the email.

Please note that if you request we stop sending you Marketing messages or you unsubscribe, we may continue to send you service and administrative communications such as transfer updates and other important information on your transaction.

Protection of personal information collected by Sendwave

Sendwave's leading security experts and practices help ensure that your Personally Identifiable Information is secure. All such information is stored on servers with state-of-the-art data protection technology, and is accessible only to Sendwave employees who, for business purposes, need to access it. We use 128-bit encryption and encode your debit card information as soon as it is entered in the Sendwave app, a process that obscures your card details so that they are unreadable by unauthorized parties.

However, it is important to note that no method of transmission over the internet, or method of electronic storage, is 100% secure. Although Sendwave uses strong methods to protect the data that you provide to us, and we regularly test our information protection practices and technology, Sendwave cannot absolutely guarantee its security. We will, however, notify you of any breach or other compromise that affects your data, promptly and in compliance with applicable laws.

International transfer of your personal information

Due to the international nature of our business, it may be necessary to transfer your personal information to other WorldRemit entities, as well as to other third parties as noted in the “Use of information” and  “Sharing your information” sections of this policy. These transfers are conducted to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Policy. For this reason, your personal information may be transferred to countries that have different data protection laws and compliance requirements than those in your country of residence.


Please be aware that when your personal information is transferred to such countries, we will take appropriate measures to ensure that your data remains protected in accordance with applicable laws. These measures may include utilizing standard contractual clauses or relying on the recipients’ adherence to binding corporate rules or certifications.


By using our services and providing us with your personal information, you acknowledge and consent to the transfer of your data as described above, understanding that your information will be subject to protection in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable laws.

Use of Cookies and Other Tracking Devices

Sendwave uses "cookies" and other tracking devices to help us recognize you, remember your preferences and facilitate your future transactions and other interactions with us. We also use such tracking devices to help us understand consumer behavior on our App, in order to help us improve it and make it easier for future use. We use your personal information through these Cookies and similar technologies, in accordance with our [Cookie Policy]. Most web browsers provide settings that allow you to control the use of cookies. Through your browser settings, you typically have the ability to::

  • delete all cookies;
  • block all cookies;
  • allow all cookies;
  • block ‘third-party’ cookies (ie, cookies set by online services other than the one you are visiting); and
  • clear all cookies when you close the browser.

Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you may have a number of rights regarding our processing of your relevant personal information, including:


  • The right to request access to your personal information, including details about the nature, processing and disclosure of your personal information.
  • The right to request the correction of any inaccuracies in your personal information.
  • The right to request the deletion of your personal information. Please note that we will retain a note of your name if you request the erasure of your personal information.
  • The right to request the restriction of our use of your personal information.
  • The right to request the transfer of your personal information to another party. 

To ensure the security of your personal information, we will only process your request where we are satisfied that we have successfully verified your identity and confirming that you are the individual making the request. We may therefore require proof of your identity before we can give effect to these rights. If you have an account with us, logging into your account and sending us a request through the account will serve as verification, although we may request additional information if we have concerns about the security of your account.

You should also be aware that some of these rights are qualified and not absolute; therefore exemptions or limitations may apply. 

The quickest and easiest way to make a request is to contact us directly by emailing compliance@sendwave.com and we will endeavor to respond within one month or a reasonable period in compliance with applicable laws. We reserve the right to charge a reasonable fee (reflecting the costs of providing the information) or to refuse to respond if a request is clearly unfounded or excessive.  In such cases, we will explain the circumstances and inform you of your rights.

US STATE PRIVACY LAW

Notice of Collection

If you are a California and Virginia resident this notice applies to you and supplements the main privacy policy Here. The purpose of this Notice at Collection is to ensure you receive timely notice, at or before the point of data collection, about the categories of personal information that may be collected from you and the purposes for which the personal information may be used. The Categories of Personal Information are listed below.

Residents of California have additional rights with respect to their personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act 2018 (“CCPA”) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act 2020. 


Additionally, residents of Virginia are afforded additional privacy rights under The Consumer Data Protection Act, which are detailed below. 


Your Privacy Rights

California Residents

As a California resident you have the ability to exercise any certain rights, subject to exceptions, with regard to your personal information. These rights include:

  • Access to your personal information, together with information regarding the nature, processing and disclosure of personal information. However, we may withhold some information where the risk to you, your personal information, a third party, or our business is too great to disclose the information.
  • Correction of any inaccuracies in the personal information that we hold.
  • Deletion of your personal information, also known as the right to be forgotten. You should also be aware that this right is qualified and not absolute. Therefore in some cases, we may refuse to delete your personal information. For example, if we need it to comply with a legal obligation, for internal purposes, to defend or establish a legal claim, and to complete the transaction for which we collected your personal information, among others.
  • Restriction on the use of your personal information. 
  • Transfer of your personal information to another party. 
  • The right not to receive any discriminatory treatment from the ZEPZ Group for exercising any of your privacy rights. Please note this is a passive right, meaning you cannot actively exercise it.


Virginia Residents


Residents of Virginia, subject to exceptions, may also exercise the same rights described above. For example the rights of access and deletion.  


How to exercise your rights 

To exercise your rights, please submit a verifiable consumer request to us by sending an email to compliance@sendwave.com or contact us at 1-855-383-7579.  You may make a verifiable consumer request for access, deletion and portability twice within a 12-month period. We will only process your request where we are satisfied that we have successfully verified your identity.

We will deal with your request within 45 days. If reasonably necessary, we can extend this period by an additional 45 days. We shall notify you if we extend this period.

Categories of Personal Information Collected

In the preceding 12 months, we have collected the following categories of personal information.  For more details about the data points we collect, please see the “The personal information we collect about you” section in our main privacy policy.

  • Identifiers – This includes name, postal address, email address, unique personal identifier, Internet Protocol addresses, social security number, driver’s license number, passport number or other similar identifiers.
  • Personal information categories from Cal. Civ. Code  § 1798.80(e) – This category encompasses information such as names, social security number, telephone number, passport number, driver’s license or state identification card number, insurance policy number, education, employment, employment history, bank account number or other financial information.
  • Commercial Information – This category covers records related to your transactions, money transfers, or remittance histories.
  • Internet or other similar network activity – This category includes information about your browsing history, search history, and information regarding your interaction with websites, applications, or advertisements on the internet.
  • Data – This category encompasses inferences drawn from personal information to create a profile that reflects your preferences and characteristics.

Categories of Third Parties

In the 12 months prior to the effective date of the Privacy Statement, CSendwave may have shared your Personal Information with the following Categories of Third Parties listed below. For more details on our data sharing, please see the “Sharing your personal information” section in our main privacy policy:

  • Government entities: government entities including law enforcement agencies;
  • Professional services organizations: professional services organizations, such as law firms and independent auditors;
  • Advertising and social networks: advertising and social networks (who may combine your personal information with their own records, and records available from other sources for their own marketing purposes);
  • Internet service providers;
  • Payment processors and payout partners;
  • Help desk service providers;
  • Financial,accounting and Legal services providers;
  • Data analytics providers and other aggregators;
  • Operating systems and platforms; and
  • Our affiliates, subsidiaries and members of the ZEPZ Group like WorldRemit Corp and WorldRemit Limited.

Business or Commercial purposes for using your personal information

All the categories of personal information we collect about you (as detailed above) are used for the following purposes. For more details on our use of your personal information, please see the “Use of Information” section in our main privacy policy:

  • Providing our services (money transfers, account servicing and maintenance, customer services, advertising and marketing, analytics and communication about our services).
  • For our operational purposes, and the operational purposes of our service providers and integration partners.
  • Improving our existing services and developing new services.
  • Prevention, detection, protection and prosecution of security incidents, illicit or fraud related activity.
  • Bug prevention, error reporting, and activities to maintain the quality or safety of our services.
  • Auditing consumer interactions on our site.
  • Short term use such as customizing the content of our website.
  • Our legitimate interests in promoting our business.
  • To send you marketing information about products and services from WorldRemit and Sendwave.
  • Any other use that we will inform you about.

Sale and sharing of your personal information

Some sharing of personal information (like your name, email address, etc.) may be considered a "sale" under the CCPA and Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act (“VCDPA”). However, we do not sell your personal information for monetary gain. Although, in some cases, we may allow certain third parties to use that information for purposes that may not directly benefit WorldRemit. We will not share information we collect about you with companies outside of our corporate family unless permitted by law.


In California, Sendwave engages in cross-context behavioral advertising through cookies, SDKs and similar technologies. As a result, we may share your personal information with third parties (subject always to obtaining your consent through our Preference and Consent Management banner). For more details on how to opt-out or limit this sharing, please see Use of Cookies and Other Tracking Devices in the section above. 


In Virginia, we may engage in "targeted advertising" as defined by Virginia law. You have the right to opt out of sales or targeting advertising as defined in the VCDPA.

Sensitive Personal Information.

We may collect the following sensitive personal information:

  • Personal identification numbers, such as your social security number, driving license, passport or state identification identification card.
  • Geolocation data, such as information about the location of your device and information derived from your device.

We use this information for purposes that are reasonably necessary to provide our Services as expected by an average consumer; helping to ensure security and integrity; to perform services on behalf of our business, which include our maintenance or servicing of your account, providing customer service, processing orders and fulfilling transactions, verifying customer information, processing payments, providing financing, analytic services, storage, or similar services on behalf of the business; and undertaking activities to verify or maintain or improve the quality of our service. Please note that under the CCPA, you are unable to restrict our use and sharing of your sensitive personal information.

Notice of Financial Incentives 

We may offer you certain financial incentives permitted by the CCPA that can result in different prices, rates, or quality levels. Any financial incentive, price or service difference related to the collection and use of personal information is based upon our reasonable, good-faith determination of the estimated value of such information to our business. This determination takes into consideration the value of the offer itself and the anticipated revenue generation that may be result from creating brand loyalty. Participation in our promotional programs is always optional, and you can terminate program participation at any time, as explained in the applicable program terms.

How long do we hold your information

In general, Sendwave retains information about each transaction for a period of five years. After this period, Sendwave may securely destroy the information, making it no longer available to you or any other party. However, certain circumstances may require Sendwave to maintain information for longer periods as required by applicable laws or regulations.

Privacy Policy Changes

Sendwave's privacy policy may change in the future. If that happens, the updated version of the policy will be posted on our website, www.sendwave.com, and will be communicated to current users via the email addresses associated with their Sendwave App registrations.
