Don't miss out - For every $1 you send, your loved ones will receive an extra 5 Naira. So if you send $100, your recipient will receive $100 + 500 NGN extra.
Due to the Central Bank of Nigeria's mandate on November 30th 2020 that all remittances must be paid out in USD, we have had to make some changes to how you're able to send money to Nigeria through Sendwave.
β
While sending to Naira accounts is no longer possible, you can still send to your loved ones affordably, securely, and quickly via USD cash pickup or directly to their domiciliary accounts!
β
Your recipients will be able to pick up their cash at any Access, Fidelity, Zenith or GTB Bank. All they need is the voucher code we send them, their BVN, a valid form of identification, and their mobile phone. No need to have an account with any of the banks to collect funds :)
You can send to domiciliary accounts at Access, GTB, UBA, and First Bank. The funds will be directly deposited into their account.

To send to domiciliary accounts, please make sure your app is updated to version 04.07.02. You can update your app directly from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. If youβre not sure what version of the app you have, you can check your app version on the bottom of the 'Me' page.
β
For users in the United States sending USD to USD, the fee will be 1%. This is for transfers to domiciliary accounts or for USD cash pickup. For users sending from Europe, the United Kingdom or Canada, there will be no fee to send to USD :)
ββ
Just like when sending to Naira accounts, security is a top priority for Sendwave. Weβve added two ways to help ensure the security of your transfer, on top of our existing security. When you send a transfer, you and your recipient will receive a unique code for the transaction. You both will also receive a one time password for the transaction. Your recipient will need to take those codes to any Access, Zenith, or Fidelity Bank branch and present it to the bank teller. Once the bank teller verifies their identity, they'll be able to collect the funds.
ββ
The unique code voucher and one time password will be sent to your recipient within moments of you initiating the transfer. They will then need to visit any Access, Zenith, or Fidelity Bank branch between Monday through Friday 8 am - 4 pm WAT to collect the funds. The funds do need to be picked up within a 7 days a of the transfer being sent.
ββ
To send via USD cash pickup you just need your recipients full name and their phone number - itβs that simple :)
β
The funds can be picked up at any Access, Zenith, Fidelity or GTB Bank branch. The nearest branches can be found here:
Access Bank
Zenith Bank
Fidelity Bank
GTB Bank
β
Generally recipients need to bring their BVN and an additional ID with them to verify their identity. The form of additional ID can vary by bank.
To collect funds from Access Bank, they can present: international passport, driverβs license, national ID card, INEC registration card, or Bank Verification Number (BVN).
To collect funds from Zenith Bank, they must present their BVN as well as their: International Passport (Nigerian or other); Driverβs License; National Id. Card; or PVC.
To collect funds from Fidelity Bank, recipients will need their BVN, National ID, Driver's License with a photo, or INEC Permanent Voter's Card with address.
To collect funds from GTB, recipients will need their BVN as well as their International Passport, Driver's License, or National ID Card.
β
Both you (the sender) and your recipient will receive the voucher code and the one time password via two separate SMS. If they did not receive it, you can share it directly with them :)
β
The funds need to be picked up within 7 days of the transfer being sent. Β After 7 days the transaction will be cancelled and your debit card will not be charged.
β
Yes! You can now send to domiciliary accounts at GTB, UBA, Access Bank, and First Bank. More banks coming soon as well!
β
Unfortunately, no, for now we are unable to send to Naira accounts. This is due to a directive from the Central Bank of Nigeria on Nov 30th that required all remittances to be paid out in USD and is beyond Sendwaveβs control. We hope that at some point in the future, we will again by able to send to Naira accounts. However, at this time we do not know when or if it will be possible.β
β
New domiciliary accounts should be created within 24 hours of the transfer being initiated. Setting up the accounts is done solely be recipient banks, so please ensure your recipients direct any questions about their accounts to their bank :)
β
You can currently send to domiciliary accounts at Access Bank, GTB, UBA, and First Bank. We are working hard to add more banks soon!
ββ
They can now! Access is offering weekend cash pickup hours at their largest locations. See the list of banks offering weekend pickup below.
