Why Trust Sendwave

Transaction Security

Account verification protects your account and transactions so that you are the only one who can access your funds.

How does Sendwave keep my personal data safe when I make a transaction?

Data security is our top priority. We employ the following to ensure your information remains private and protected:

  1. We encrypt all of your data as soon as it's entered into your phone.

  2. We then send it to our servers using a 256-bit encryption connection — the leading industry standard.

What is 256-bit encryption and how does it protect my information?

256-bit encryption is a technique that uses a 256-bit key to encrypt and decrypt data or files. It is one of the most secure encryption methods out there and is used in most modern encryption algorithms, protocols, and technologies. Your data is encrypted as soon as you enter it into the Sendwave app, preventing any unauthorized individuals from having access to it.

How do I know my money has arrived with the right person?

We do a few things to help our users ensure that they are sending funds to the right person:

  • We allow you to pull contact information directly from your phone so you don't have to re-enter any number.

  • We ask you to enter new numbers twice to confirm them.

  • We ensure that either the recipient’s first or the last name matches what's in the bank or mobile money provider’s database.

  • When you send money to a new recipient, we recommend you try sending $1/£1 first. Then, contact them to confirm that they've received it before sending a larger amount.

If you happen to send funds to the wrong recipient, please get in touch with us as soon as possible and we’ll try to help. Please note: we cannot reverse funds that have already been utilized, even by an unintended recipient.

How do I know when my money has been sent?

Once a transaction has been made, you will receive an email notification. You will also see a notification under “Transactions” in your Sendwave app. When you initiate the transfer, it will show as “Pending” while processing. Once sent successfully, the status will change to “Delivered.”

What should I do if I suspect someone else has accessed my account?

The first thing you should do is change your password. Then, we recommend turning on two-factor authentication as an added layer of protection.  ‍ Finally, we ask that you check your transaction history. If you see transactions that you don’t recognize in your Sendwave app, please contact us immediately — we’ll be happy to assist you.

What can I do to protect my account?

The best ways to protect your account are to enable two-factor authentication and create a strong, unique password.  If you are struggling to come up with a password, here are some suggestions:

  • Use both letters and numbers

  • Use special characters

  • Use upper and lowercase letters

  • Use 12 or more characters

  • Don’t write down your password or share it with anyone

  • Don’t use a password you’ve used before
